AHP Six Typeface wins Red Dot Communication Design Award
International design recognition for innovative woodblock typeface

AHP Six is a type-system Greenspace created with printmakers New North Press, designing a bespoke woodblock for letter pressing. The project was part of an identity kit for new London development Anthology Hoxton Press.

The result was a unique hexagonal wood block, inspired by the rich heritage of Anthology Hoxton Press; which sits where former printmakers the Mullord Brothers created hand-crafted pieces back in the 1860’s. The buildings’ unusual architectural forms led to the concept of a hexagonal type-system.

The blocks are handmade by Thomas Mayo & Co, with different textures and patterns laser-cut to create a modular set, that can be placed in different ways on the press bed. The woodblocks have been used to design and print an array of letterforms that vary in size, which can be minimalist or decorative. They have been developed into a number of prints for Anthology communications including their newly-opened sales & marketing suite.

“Red Dot is established internationally as one of the most sought-after quality marks for good design. We are delighted that our AHP Six type design work has been recognised in this way.”
